Publisher's Rant
In case you missed it…..

Moving billboard
Our state is considering issuing electronic license plates for all vehicles so the state can sell advertising on the plates. The first company I would call would be Auto Insurance followed by body shops. Rumor is they would also use to monitor your driving and charge you by the mile.
High-speed train brew-ha-ha
Sen. Alan Lowenthal, (D- Long Beach), who chairs the Senate transportation committee, is drafting legislation that would ban individuals who hold elected office or sit on local transportation boards from also serving as a director of the California High-Speed Rail Authority.
The proposal is aimed most immediately at Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle and Richard Katz, board member of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
Lowenthal's concern in part is a proposed deal — backed by Pringle — to use $200 million in high-speed rail money to complete a huge, canopied transportation center next to Angels Stadium of Anaheim at the southern terminus of the bullet train's first phase.
Among other things, Katz has pushed for a potential track-sharing design suggested by the MTA — the lead funding agency of Metrolink — for the high-speed rail segment between Los Angeles and Anaheim. Track sharing could cut bullet train construction costs and help upgrade Metrolink track systems. Politics as usual.
Say it with us...
more guns in more homes
The NRA won a supreme court case- the court again reversing a 19th century law-so people can have guns in their homes. In interviewing the manager of a gun range, a local TV station allowed the manager to say the crime rate is lower in cities that allow guns in homes versus those that do not. Not true, New York has one the lowest gun related crime rates in the U.S, coincidentally, the Big Apple has one of the strictest gun laws in the nation, and the lowest accidental home shootings too. In any case the attorneys win again, this decision will spawn hundreds of lawsuits.
Go ahead Meg, I dare you
Multi million $$ Meg (Whitman) has angered (among others) nurses and teachers with her stance on privatizing hospitals and schools. Now she is trying to divide and conquer schmoozing the union heads, while saying she will cut 40,000 jobs if she wins the Governor-ship, slight conflict
Pay for war not for unemployment extension....
The bill to extend unemployment to 15 million lazt a** poeple in the U.S. failed again, with 3 "Democrats" voting against it. It is ok to pay for an illegal war but not ot help down on their luck Americans. Listen up, we do not eat bon-bons on the couch waiting for the check.
Progessive alert!
Health care for pre-exiting begins
As of July 1, one of the provisions of the health care reform bill kicks in, the high risk pool run by the federal governament for those with pre-existing conditions. Many states are relying on the governemnt to run the program including those that tend to lean DemocratTexas, Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Wyoming, Idaho. Woner what will happen when Texas seceeds.
Brush your teeth!
A new chemical coating is coming that will coat cavities and actually heal them on their own. No more drilling noise from the dentist! Darn! The chemical will not replace root canals and special crowns and you still have to brush and floss…I can just hear my mom.
Have a great Fourth of July!
